DOUGLAS COUNTY GARDEN CLUB COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Colorado Agricultural Leadership Foundation

CALF operates and manages the 133 acre historic Lowell Ranch, south of Castle Rock on the 1-25 East Frontage Road. CALF connects all people to agricultural through authentic educational programs, facilities for 4-H/FFA projects, guided tours, ranch livestock, and leadership opportunities.

CALF’s new Geothermal Greenhouse and 7 garden areas support and grow for the ‘Give, Grow, Give’ community project donating 1000’s of pounds of food to people in need each year. We couldn’t do it all without our wonderful volunteers!

Douglas / Elbert County Planter Boxes

Club members purchase and plant the planter boxes in front of the Douglas/Elbert County Task Force Thrift Store. The cheery flowers greet volunteers and shoppers when they enter the store..

Castle Rock Historical Society and Museum

Beginning in 2022, the Garden Club designed and maintained flower containers at the Museum. The Castle Rock Historical Society and Museum is a treasure trove of information about our area's early days.

Plan a visit or sign up for a special event soon. During Spring 2022, our club reached out to the museum leadership and offered to design, plant, and maintain flower containers at the entrance of the museum. It has been a pleasure to work at the museum and we hope to continue in the years ahead.

Glovers Park Community Garden Flower Bed

The Castle Rock Community Garden at Glovers Park is a community-based and community-run garden area where Castle Rock residents can garden in raised beds during the summer months.

In the spring of 2022 Douglas County Garden Club volunteered to plant and maintain an area that borders the sidewalk in front of the community garden area. Working the soil and planting the flowers has been a rewarding project for garden club members, but we also enjoyed interacting with community that walk by our flower bed. Stop by the gardens to enjoy the beauty of this lovely community garden.
