Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in the Philip S. Miller Library, 100 S. Wilcox Street, Castle Rock, Colorado, unless otherwise stated. Visitors are welcome!

Tuesday, January 3 2023 -- Using Medicinal Herbs

Castle Rock Library - 1 pm

Hannah White, Owner, Wildmoon Alchemy


Our first speaker of 2023 will be Hannah White, owner and founder of Wildmoon Alchemy, an apothecary and wellness center, in Castle Rock on Front Street. She will teach us about the various uses of medicinal herbs, which parts of the plants are used, and what can be grown in our own gardens.


Tuesday, February 7 2023 -- Abstract Creative Design Techniques

Castle Rock Library - 1 pm

Joy Kancir, Master Gardener, Accredited Master Flower Show Judge, Colorado Flower Show Judges Credentials Chair, Floral Art Study Club


Our own Joy Kancir will demonstrate design techniques utilizing the principles and elements of design as well as incorporating materials including dried seed heads, weathered wood, dried mushrooms, and other items found around your home, yard, or on country roads. Joy will also discuss a flower show schedule.


Tuesday, March 7 2023 -- Growing and Designing on a Front Range Flower Farm

Helen Skiba, Owner, Artemis Flower Farm


Helen is a dedicated grower and tender of soil, and brings a background in science and poetry to her field work. Helen will share how growing flowers for cuts is different than growing flowers for aesthetics in the garden and how using farm-fresh flowers can bring new life to flower design. She holds a Masters of Science in Agriculture and served in the Peace Corps.


Tuesday, April 4, 2023 -- Sustainable Gardening for Better Living

As Colorado gardeners, how can we meet the challenges of drought and make better choices for our landscapes and lives? Linda Larson, Native Plant Master, bee keeper, and pollinator expert, will explain how we can shift our approach to planting without sacrificing the beauty of gardening.

Marla Leggette, Advanced Master Gardener


DCGC member Marla Leggette will talk about raised beds at our May meeting. She will discuss different kinds of raised beds, how to fill them, and gardening techniques.

Meet in the parking lot at 10:30 for a special tour with Andy Hough, Douglas County Conservancy and Connie Huffaker, Master Gardener. Please bring a picnic lunch, drinks will be provided.

Celebrate the season with good friends and cheer at our annual holiday luncheon. This is a potluck with many delicious dishes to share. There is also a gift exchange ($20 limit) for those who would like to participate.
